Syllabus

Espaņol II

Class begins with a long and thorough review of Spanish I basics, followed by a development of writing that proves the assimilation and mastery of Spanish basics.  Additional tenses are studied and question and answer methods are used to develop some oral proficiency. The study Spanish.com program is used to incorporate internet learning and provides constant review and reinforcement of the target language.

Espaņol III

An emphasis is now placed on reviewing and using the entire concept of grammatical usage.  Developing speech and writing patterns is emphasized through dialogue writing and presentation. Expressions are explored, and Spanish culture, geography, history and foods are also examined through field trips and video presentations. The Destinos series of videos, presently used as a telecommunications course at Penn State University, is introduced in the second marking period and will continue to be used as the focus of Spanish III as transition into a more advanced class. This series is a "telenovela" that intertwines the teaching of many of the fundamentals of Spanish with the further development of listening and comprehension skills.  Students will be expected to concentrate on building their vocabulary and writing in the target language to an increased level of proficiency. Many of the Spanish III students will be expected to take the National Spanish Exam.
