Mrs. Hogan's First Grade Class

Recipe for Stone Soup

Heat some water in a pot.

Add some stones you've scrubbed a lot.

Sprinkle salt, pepper, and herbs.

Let it boil undisturbed.

Drop in carrots, onions too.

Let the soup heat through and through.

Stir in milk to make it sweet.

Add potatoes for a treat.

Toss in meat cubes. Let it stew.

Let it bubble. Let it brew.

Taste the soup and when it's done,

Share Stone Soup with everyone.

The first grade used carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and basil to make Stone soup. Beef bouillon cubes were the "magic" stones.

   Applesauce

The students recently learned how to make applesauce.  Apples were peeled and boiled.  Sugar and cinnamon were also added to the apples.  The applesauce cooled and everyone got a taste of homemade applesauce.

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

On October 4th we enjoyed an extension of the classroom fieldtrip to Roba's Tree Farm.  The weather was beautiful and everyone had fun picking out a pumpkin and watching the pig races.  Channel 16 was even there and we were on the news.
